I created lots of holiday traditions with my kids when they were little. The Christmas Tree always went up the day after Thanksgiving and they decorated it (with my help of course – I always ended up getting to put the lights on the tree first but as pre-teens & teen-agers they helped with the lights too) – my daughter would redecorate the tree EVERY day until it was taken down on New Years Day. When my daughter was a baby – her first Christmas – she was an August baby so she was quite alert & curious by her first Christmas, I had bought those satin ornaments (baby safe for holding but every year they got more ugly & ragged – they did last through both my kids though and they were 5 years apart – I was SO glad to finally throw them away!) so the very first Christmas, my baby girl threw the Christmas tree ornaments on the tree. It was hilarious! I had a great time and so did she. Even as a baby, she was fascinated with the ornaments on the tree and wanted to touch them evey day – so I let her – she had a great time pulling them off the tree and throwing them back at the tree!
