Arts and Crafts is a lot of different things … it is not just tie dyeing t-shirts or stenciling on walls. It also includes decorative painting on a variety of surfaces (paper, wood, glass, plaster, brick, fabric, etc.) and woodworking (creating wall plaques, furniture, knick-knacks, signs, etc.) among a variety of other creative hobbies or endeavors like sewing, quilting, soapmakers, pottery makers, etc.
The most important thing about arts and crafts in my mind is that you should enjoy what you are doing – do not do it just to make money – put passion into doing it and joy because it will shine forth. It will enhance your life with joy and pleasure and relaxation. If it becomes a “duty” and a business that you do not enjoy – find a different passion for an outlet of your creative energy and passion.
There are lots of people who earn their entire living from making things and selling them at craft fairs and art shows, locally or all over the entire country or some even internationally! Crafter and artist to me are two names for the same thing. I do not care if someone has an art school education or not – if I enjoy their art work and am willing to pay money for it – it is good. Their education does not matter – what matters is that they have touched my soul enough for me to want their artwork in my home, office and life AND to be willing to pay for the opportunity of having it in my life.
I like this! The simple scene with the lone tree and bright colors are very appealing.
