Merry Christmas to all … and to all a Happy New Year too wish from me to you!
No shopping for me this year … no job … no money … I painted three gifts and assorted cards to go with them. I thought about painting a few more … but two will be traveling and probably not much room so it seemed a much better idea not to do and to wait til I can afford to mail them a small gift … perhaps xmas in July next year? I do not think I have ever done that yet .. so perhaps a new tradition .. .I do think the Christmas holidays have been … commercialized … way too much. It seems more about what you receive than about family and being together and enjoying great times together.
My son-in-law was out this morning hunting … Wal-Mart or Sams Club .. pumpkin pie … he found it … I rather miss pumpkin pie homemade fresh from the oven smelling up the entire house … no wonder I just feel kind of … empty … every holiday any more … no baking … no fresh pumpkin pie or punkin bread or mince meat pies [grocery store mince meat pies are AWFUL btw ... nothing like my grandmothers at all] …. fried turkey [done out in the garage for safety sake] …. no baking turkey for hours making your mouth water in advance of everyone getting together for a feast … Christmas has changed as my family grew up and away and changed … time does not stand still and neither do holiday traditions.
