Frozen Beef Stew Meat in Qt. Freezer Bag
Today is a great day for crockpot cooking so when I looked thru the freezer for what I had that sounded good for dinner – the lone pkg left of beef stew meat caught my eye.
Out it came and into a bowl of cold water to thaw – it was 9:30 am and I needed to start it cooking by noon for us to have dinner at a reasonable time of evening tonight.
I used my 4 qt round crockpot today. I put in it:
- beef stew meat [cubed chuck roast works great too],
- diced onions,
- garlic,
- then a bag of frozen mixed veggies – canned or fresh veggies work great too,
- lots of diced potatoes
- … also if I have small baggie portions of pre – frozen & diced: celery and/or green/red sweet peppers
NOTE: Today I had real potatoes so I used them – I am out of canned diced potatoes but those are good too if you have them and do not want to peel potatoes … though you can just scrub the potatoes and dice with the skins on – my family does not like to eat potato skins.
… here is where it gets changed up depending on what I have in the pantry vs what I feel like eating that night … lol … I do one of the following:
1) Sometimes I just add a can of Campbell’s “Cream of ….” soup and water to cover everything. We like cream of mushroom with roasted garlic, cream of onion, cream of potato, cream of celery or cream of broccoli … Campbell’s Kitchen

Diced Potatoes & Lipton Dry Soup Mix
2) Mrs Grass Homestyle Beef Stew mix packet – this is what I had in the cupboard today – I used 4 cups of water not 6 though … Mrs Grass’ Homestyle Beef Stew
3) Lipton Recipe Secrets dry soup mix … Lipton’s Recipe Secrets … pour in and add water to cover ingredients
4) a variety of the spices from my cupboard that sound good to me … oregano, rosemary, marjoram, etc
Cook on low for 6-8 hours
