Being a web designer in a past lifetime … oh sorry … that was a past career, not lifetime … LOL … though as fast as the computer world moves … it sometimes feels like an entirely different lifetime now … anyway … when I read recommendations about Charley Parker’s “How Not to Display Your Artwork on the Web” article (first from the ImageKind forum, then from Barney Davey’s blog) – I had a pretty good idea of what the content would be about … some people are VERY good at presenting great advice – I loved his article – it is all good advice very cleverly worded – I laughed and laughed – I’ve seen all those artist websites at one time or another.

For lack of highly directed focus – My personal website here (Barbara Burns) … and blog too … qualify … sort of … I think …. maybe … ROFL …. I have several ImageKind Galleries where my art is showcased very nicely and neatly and it is quite easy for anyone to buy Framed Fine Art Prints of all my work there.

I do have several focused niche websites (these are all so far – as of last week-end, June 24th 2007 when I added a new one, the Fantasy Art Gift website) ….

Seascape Artist

Watercolor Gift

Dragonfly Theme or Dragon Fly Theme

Fantasy Art Gift

My Art Dragonflies Store (basically Dragonfly t-shirt shop) – I need to find time to add more designs to it – maybe next month.

TXDragon used to be my web design portfolio for years & years and it was highly focused and specialized … but this year in looking at it, it seemed silly to have a web design portfolio when I’m not doing web design any more & haven’t for several years now … so now it too is somewhat unfocused like here rambling in many directions. Now my portfolio is one page there … why txdragon? – my artist bio is here on my personal website at Artist Statement if you are interested in reading that page which is more about my art.

The main reason I started this Barbara Burns website & blog was so I would have a place to just … be an artist … ramble around into what-ever direction I was in the mood to explore that moment in time – that is how I decide what to paint next too … explore … expand horizons … experiment … if that drives away visitors … sorry … yes this website is for you … but it is for me too …. and it helps me be a better artist to have somewhere online to journal with whatever arrives in the forefront of the moment that captures my interest or imagination. Sooner or later … all of it will find it’s way into one of my paintings … because I explored that direction and did not turn away from it.

Also, one of my collectors told me once that people like to get to “know” an artist … that is easy to do out here online, if I allow you to get to know me … and I do.
