Mystique of Sexy Lingerie
Is there a woman over 50 in the US that hasn’t ever seen a Frederick’s of Hollywood catalog at one time or another (whether they wanted to or not)? I do not even know how I got on their mailing list way back 30 plus years ago. One day, the catalog just started showing up in my mailbox … it came off & on for several years … no matter how many times I moved or where I moved to … what is hilarious and ironic all these years later is that there is a Frederick’s of Hollywood store right here in Katy - I bought my daughter a gift certificate for their store for her birthday once - I’ll bet she is going to tell me what she wants for her birthday next time when I ask instead of letting me just go pick something out … rofl … I can guarantee you that the local Iowa K-Mart store did not sell the type of lingerie that was advertised in those catalogs.

Back in the olden days, most of us yearned for those negligee peignoir outfits that screamed SEX right off the pages … they sold tight pants and revealing blouses … garter belts, girdles, bras that weren’t much bra, corset, and those 5 inch stiletto shoes … but most of us were too afraid to actually order any of it - brown paper wrapped packages being delivered by the mailman would definitely get all the neighbors looking and the mailman being nosey and suggestive … my Aunt sent me a birthday gift from New York to Iowa … and she wrapped it for mailing / addressing in brown paper - instead of putting it in a cardboard box … all the neighbors and the mailman wanted to know what was in that brown paper package .. they were all quite disappointed when it turned out to be flowered sheets and pillowcases from the JC Penney store in New York - we had one in Des Moines .. she always bought from Penney’s so we could return it and exchange it if we didn’t like what she picked out and sent as a gift.
Did you know that there are online lingerie shops that sell those kinds of dreams in fluffy silk, chiffon, leather or something else entirely AND even for those of us who are BBW - Plus Size Lingerie Dreams can and are still a reality … and at my age now, I’m not afraid to order any of it online either. I definitely do not want to go over to one of those shops along Hwy 6 here in Houston that I saw advertising “adult” lingerie … if they didn’t have any in a size large enough to fit .. I would be deathly embarrassed … and if they did, I would still be embarrassed to be picking it out in public … okay … I remember when buying negligees in a brick and mortar store that totally covered you from head to toe was terribly embarrassing … and I was thin then.
… now I’m looking at size 16 or 18 blouse / dress sizes depending on the cut and too many shops that sell Plus Size clothing went & found a tiny thin sales clerk (WHY?) who just looks at me … down her nose … makes me feel like ruining her day by pouring ice water on her head … but one just cannot go do something like that in public … it is much easier to order what I want online, try it on in the privacy of my own home … find out if I need a bigger size or if it is just right … am I wanting to get any of this for a man? Nope … no man in my life .. I have been having trouble finding bras large enough that they are comfy instead of feeling like they are cutting my chest off in half by first break time.
I LOVE silk!!!! It is so very comfortable and it makes me feel … wonderful … all over just wearing it … I do not plan to get any 5″ inch heels … I do not want to break my neck tripping over the puppy and she doesn’t care if I wear high heels or flat animal slippers with my nightgowns.
I want to check out the chemises too … I’ve out-grown all mine 
and I really liked wearing them in the summer under long skirts to try and stay cooler in this heat when outside or driving home with the windows down trying to avoid running the a/c - especially with the cost of gas right now which it will probably only get worse. Buying online is going to be even more popular with me than driving all over town as the cost of gasoline goes higher & higher.
No matter what size a woman might be … she wants to feel good and feel that she looks good … under her clothes as well as the clothes the world is seeing or even if it is only her nightclothes that no one is seeing except her .. stylish lingerie in Plus Sizes is not on the shelves of every store … but via the Internet … it sure is much easier to find these days … my grandmother made all her bras … I am not a seamstress.
