Red Wasps & Beetles & Texas Tree Roaches
I’ve been having serious issues lately with red wasps – they nested under a corner of the deck in the backyard. I thought I had more wood bees too but it turns out that they are some kind of beetle – they buzz – they fly – they dive bomb me whenever I go out there – but in looking at them when they land – they are some kind of beetle instead of bees – my son in law insisted I look to see they are beetles
not bees.
He sprayed the deck and killed about 20 or more red wasps yesterday afternoon – all day today, more red wasps have been flying around the patio door and the chimney – I had THREE in the house this afternoon which I killed plus one outside that was trapped between the glass patio door and the patio screen that is pushed open since I have the air conditioner running instead of opening the door & using the screen – it is still too hot for that right now!
I used the rest of my wasp spray this afternoon killing more of them climbing under the deck too.
I am so tired of all the insects of this house! I’m looking forward to moving closer to work and not having to fight off hordes of bugs like I have had to do all summer here this year!
Interestingly enough, yesterday, there were a gazillion dragonflies swarming all over the backyard too and a hummingbird!
Dragonflies here to rescue me from the horrid red wasps? I like to think so! I can barely let the dog out to go potty when I get home from work with all those red wasps in the backyard! And this afternoon, I took her out in the front yard because they were swarming all over by the patio doors!
And my daughter cannot come visit her dog because she is allergic to bee stings and we expect the stings of red wasps would be just as dangerous to her as are honey bee stings! She has serious breathing issues and it could be very life-threatening to her so I told her to stay away – we were hoping that her husband spraying would get rid of all of them but it has not! I think their nest is larger than we originally thought and that the deck boards keep the wasp spray from getting to all of it and them.
And I had a huge Texas Tree Roach (Palmetto Bug) in the house this afternoon too! Jeepers! I bug sprayed him with roach spray and he managed to move himself to where I could squish him at least but I would much prefer they all just go away!
