My Passion for Stuffed Animals

I admit it – I am a stuffed animal addict – I LOVE stuffed animals! I love to have them at home, I love to give them as gifts to family & friends any time during the year for “just because” days and I love to buy them for poor children at Christmas as well as children who are hospitalized at Christmas too. My grandson and my daughter buy me stuffed animals … I used to buy stuffed animals for my grandson but not recently – him being a boy … well … I still buy them for my daughter! And yes, I buy stuffed animals for me too :D

I’ve always loved them and I’ve always had a stuffed animal collection that ebbs and flows like the tide at the ocean … over the years … they have arrived and they have left for various reasons … once, someone stole part of my collection – in particular every puppy dog I had! My bedroom had been covered in them until they all left.

Stuffed animals make great pets too – no feeding … no walking … no noise! um … unless you get the ones that are noisy – yeah .. I have a wonderful puppy that barks … LOL … my grandson likes to tease the dog with it!

I’ve never personally been much for teddy bears … stuffed dogs used to be a real passion for me when I was in my teens and early twenties – I had about 100 once … though over the years, I’ve bought plenty of teddy bears, rabbits, dogs and so much more including 6 starfish October 2006 as souvenirs from my trip to San Francisco (even one for my grandson for his book shelf to remind him that his Grandma had touched the starfish! – I bought me 3 starfish for my collection LOL … my friends laughed at me lovingly for being a tourist) for my daughter and for Christmas toy drives.

Yes I am the one who buys a beautiful pure WHITE large stuffed teddy bear for a poor child to receive for Christmas when I find one – my co-workers one year thought I was absolutely NUTS – one comment was how could I possibly give such a gorgeous creature to some dirty, snotty-nosed slum kid – my answer was a smile and to reply that it was easy – EVERY child – rich, poor and in the middle deserves a best friend to love and be there for them when they need one.

Privately to myself, I felt shocked and sick that anyone could think such an awful horrible thing let alone say it aloud in public in front of people!

3/31/07 – I was out of dog bones for the puppy so I had to go to Walgreens where I can get her 2 for $2 bones – I got her two stuffed toys that she will chew up right away – she LOVES toys but they do not last long – they have $2 each toys and of course they had these adorable little stuffed animals for 99 cents in 2 bins right in front of the doggie bones … guess who came home with 4 new stuffed animals … and none of them were dogs … I got two for presents that will go in the closet for later … the others for me were a walrus and a unicorn … sigh … I really have to get another display shelf.

Above are just a few of the gorgeous stuffed animals that may interest other Stuffed Animal Addicts … perhaps we should get together and start a Support Group …

Hello … my name is Barbara and I am a Stuffed-Animal-holic who cannot resist cute cuddly stuffed animals whether they are tiny little palm size creatures or large giant life-size stuffed animals that are bigger than I am.

Note – I’m about 5 ft 4 in tall and I saw some that had to be 6 ft tall at a road side stand here in Houston one day – sometimes Houston traffic really is my friend – I couldn’t get over in rush-hour traffic to be able to stop that day! Or I probably would have had one in my house now … rofl
