Super Heroes for Big Kids
Easter Sunday, April 8, 2007 - Last year, my daughter was telling me about her father-in-law wearing animal slippers. He is over 6 ft tall, LOVES to fish and is a minister in the Palestine Texas area. Looking at him, most people probably would not associate animal slippers with him (except maybe fish). In looking around the Net here this Easter week-end wondering what to get my grandson for his 10th birthday next month, I found a website that has good prices on jammies, animal slippers and bath robes. My grandson is going to be a tall man when he grows up - he is already quite tall - nearly as tall as me and his Mom already. He does not really fit into most boys sizes any more so he has to usually end up with men’s sizes … and the problem is that he is still a kid - he still wants super hero type jammies … down at the local Wally Willy World - they do not have many of those available in mens sizes for me to buy for him.
I am a firm believer in the fact that you can probably find most anything on the Internet and sure enough .. this store carries a variety of Super Heroes and Cartoon Character pajamas, slippers and bath robes in Women and Men’s sizes that most people usually associate with children.
I used to work with a lady that collected and wore Mickey Mouse shirts and clothes of all kinds .. she wore a different Mickey Mouse shirt to work every day all week every week. That was the only kind of shirt or blouse that she ever wore. She had at least one dress and several Mickey Mouse skirts as well … even some adults love to wear these so I am glad that they are available … especially for bigger kids .. .those who are bigger in size but still young as their ages.
It is hard for bigger kids to not be able to find what is age appropriate in their sizes to fit their growing bodies. They do not realize why they cannot have what other brothers or sisters younger and smaller than they are getting … it just hurts their feelings that they cannot.
5/21/07 Update: I bought the Black Bear Paw Slippers for my grandson for his birthday. They are awesome! They came right away in the mail too! They were a big hit at the birthday party too! He decided they were wolfman slippers instead of bear paws!
Did I mention that October of 2006 in San Francisco a friend took my picture while I was wearing my silk butterfly/dragonfly pajamas and then she posted it on the Internet? Yes, I love jammies and one of my goals of retirement is to work from home in my jammies sitting at the computer, drinking coffee & listening to the birds sing while watching the puppy who won’t be a puppy by then playing and chewing her bones and shredding her toys and painting when-ever the mood strikes me.
We are headed for Spring … I like cotton jammies in Texas for summer - I do not like to keep the A/C too high and so I tend to sweat just a touch … but cotton jammies are so very comfy and since they are pajamas … I do not have to worry about ironing them so they won’t be wrinkled! The 50 % cotton - 50 % polyester would probably be great - they have rodeo jammies!
I found a great place online that sells pajamas (in my retirement if not before, I want to work from home in my jammies so I want kewl ones to practice in now on week-ends), slippers and bathrobes. They are much more reasonably priced than many local stores I’ve found even including shipping costs and the selection is amazing.
The sparkly butterfly slippers for babies are adorable! … sigh …no grand-daughter grand-baby for me … and my grandson is a little too big for infant slippers … but I found and fell in love with the Bear Paw Slippers … and they have them in a size that he can wear … at the moment he is wearing a size 8 or 8 1/2 mens shoe!
I plan to buy the slippers for my grandson for his birthday in May … perhaps a bath robe too … and next Christmas I know exactly where I will be shopping for jammies for him to have new pajamas before Santa arrives at his house and he gets his picture taken the next morning.
