National Nose-Blowing Day, Spunky Old Broads Day, National Chocolate Mint Day and Straw Wrapper Appreciation Day and February being National Weddings Month – those were the choices JGoode gave us to choose from for this week’s Tuesdays Topic.

Nose-blowing is not anything I want to discuss in public or private … yes it is a natural, normal body function … it’s also quite gross.

So moving right along … chocolate mint is part of the chocolate food group pyramid … last Saturday riding around town with my daughter and two 10 year old boys, I discovered there are a total of 6 groups in the pyramid … grains, meats, dairy, veggies … and my two favorite … chocolate and dessert. All this time I thought chocolate and dessert were one and the same food group but lo and behold … my daughter explained to me how they are two separate food groups … desserts can be any sweet such as vanilla ice cream (isn’t all vanilla ice cream covered in chocolate syrup or a chocolate coating?), strawberry shortcake (AH HA … nope … I do not put chocolate on that … just lots of whipped cream … she’s right … two different food groups) and chocolate is just … chocolate … any kind, flavor, variety and totally yummy chocolate.

I’m not sure if I have the proper appreciation for straw wrappers … true, they do keep the teen-agers working at Taco Bell from putting their unwashed hands all over my straw before I can use it to drink from the cups that they probably put their unwashed hands in before filling it with ice from a dirty ice machine and cola soft drinks from a dirty uncleaned soda machine … oh yeah … they are SUPPOSED to wash their hands before serving food and drinks … um … at a guess … some probably do and some probably do not … and have you ever cleaned a soda machine? Not easy to do and most people give it a glance over instead of actually cleaning it.

Hand-washing … how many of us could name names of people we work with every day and know they do not wash their hands after using the bathroom? Yuck! Grown adults raising and teaching children … and they do not wash their hands after using toilet tissue to wipe normal, natural body fluids off themselves … well … no need to discuss that topic any further in public either.

I’m not planning a wedding and I do not know anyone who is … so guess that leaves February Wedding Month off the list of topics I could discuss too.

Guess I have to choose Spunky Old Broads Day … I’m definitely old … and a bit more broad in the beam than I would like to be … and I have been accused of being … spunky … spirited … high-spirited … among other things I won’t mention in polite public society … along the road to becoming who I am today.

Okay … now that is decided … it is time for this spunky old broad to go walk the dog who is a very high spirited spunky young broad that needs to run off some of that broad beam behind of hers while I walk off some of mine holding her leash … :) …. enjoy your days and nights … each is a blessing, no matter how stressful it might be sometimes.
