I’m finally getting to the point where I can write in my blogs again after moving – I still have some unpacked boxes (I need to buy bookcases but even if I do, I cannot carry them from the parking lot to the apt. – they would just be too heavy for me).

Tuesdays Topic this week from my friend JGoode is – Inspiration – What inspires me?

Well, what does inspires me?

It depends on the subject, what is happening in the moment and who I am with at the moment.

In art, nature inspires me – the shape of a tree trunk or branches – seeing a tree limb waving in the wind – a bush swaying in gentle breezes or bent double in a gale – sunsets, sunrises, moonrise, moonset, noonday glare, insects buzzing, a lone dragonfly or a swarm of dragonflies – these are just a few of the things that get my attention and make me want to capture that moment in time on paper, canvas or the computer.

In cooking, being hungry inspires me – I am not overly fond of cooking but everyone has to eat. I have been diagnosed as pre-diabetes so I now have to be VERY careful what I eat which means I have to start cooking again whether I want to do so or not unless I want to risk the nasty sounding alternatives. I bought new pots & pans after I moved. I also bought a George Foreman grill – it works okay but I find it hard to clean and time-consuming to clean it too. One secret to it going faster for me anyway is to use Dawn dish soap on a paper towel to cut the grease & grilled on brown goo.

In exercise, fear of the diabetes alternatives inspires me – I need to lose about 50 lbs. Trust me – all that fat free junk you can buy at the store may be fat free but no one told me the word carbohydrate stood for the word sugar and that all that fat free stuff is loaded with a ton of sugar. This is the first time in my life I’ve had to diet so I have never been on the diet yo-yo merry go round before. I like veggies but I am no vegetarian – I like meat … and meat is part of a low carb diet. I do not want all the grease which is why the grill. It leaves the meat somewhat dry but I think this is the entire point – to drain off the fat while it is cooking and for it to not sit marinating in it while cooking.

In my apt alone, Miss Sugar Plum inspires me. She is the funniest dog … I was cooking pork chops while writing this – back & forth checking on them and then back to writing (and now eating at my desk while I write). Usually she lays right at my feet or next to my chair in the office while I am working on the computer but earlier, she disappeared. When I went to check the meat so it wouldn’t burn, there she was, laying on the kitchen floor watching the grill on the counter in the kitchen. Who can help laughing at that? Trying to put her harness on is always good for a laugh too – she gets so excited and bounces around and tries to put it in her mouth as if she were a horse being bridled.

In being the best person I can be – my family and friends inspire me every day – all day and night to be the best me I can be every moment of every day.
