Tuesdays Topic: Pouring Rain

Tuesdays Topic last week was: When it rains, it pours

———————————————————

Houston TX is experiencing a drought right now … the temps here are running about 90-95+ …. my yard is so dry … I think the front yard is going to be dead from me being so sick the first half of June and not watering it … now I feel better, I am watering it trying to save it. Some parts are VERY brown dead looking … I cannot afford to re-sod the front lawn … sigh … the back yard between the ppl before me with their 6 dogs and the weeds blown into it from Hurricane Ike last year – it has to be re-sod … sigh …

No pouring rain or rain clouds and we could use some of it desperately!!!!

———————————————————

The HOA sent me a letter the first of the June or so wanting me to weed my driveway and sidewalk joints … sigh … I tried using my garden hoe to weed them … that did not work well … I did find out my driveway is cheap thin concrete that is not thick at all. … sigh …

Next I tried a weed killer … some appear to be brown and dead now but others were not fazed by the chemicals … add the fact I have no money for buying a gazillion bottles of various weed killers trying to find one that works …

While watering my grass in the eveing … I am ending up getting soaked every evening too … the sprinkler that goes around in a circle doe snot work well for my front yard … there is not getting it to work correctly out there …

Last nite, I brought a sprinkler from my daughter’s house … it is supposed to go back & forth … the plastic piece that makes it go back & forth is broken … so you have to put the water spray where you want it … I got soaked … and it has way too wide of a spray pattern too … I went back to the tiny little sprayer that I have to move 5-6 times … sigh …

I think I talked way too much at my interview last Thursday … I normally do not get nervous at all when I interview but for that one … I was VERY nervous … it was for a job in the Marketing Department as a Technical Writer / Graphic Designer … in analysis … because I do not have a 4 year design degree … so far I have never had the opportunity to work with and in the Marketing Dept of a company. My knowledge is all experience based and working in a team effort environment to create what needs created.

I would love the opportunity to create the “pretty” things that companies use to generate interest and business opportunities … but I believe these last several months of competing against 4 year designers out of work combined with it being a Marketing Dept. position … well … wanting something that my past expectations tell me are probably out of my reach appear to have crept up on me without me noticing …. I did not realize I was nervous until way too late …. sigh …

When it rains … it pours …. sigh ….

I bet you did wonderfully for your interview – think big!
We had another downpour today, maybe I should bottle up the water and send it your way. I don’t miss the hot Houston summers one big. Hope it cools down a bit for you!

I am thinking big … as in “big mouth”

… maybe I am just used to knowing that one must be “quietly topic focused” nearly silent for many in the Engineering Dept.?

Many Engineers I have known in the past would have been … horrified … that I could be so … verbal :)

Maybe it might be a good thing for the Marketing Dept.?
